Out of the blue Hiyashi Sensei asked the class, ”Do you know what is the second easiest language to learn?”
“The easiest is the language you find past the border” she added.
(to my understanding, Korean is the easiest for Japanese, Bahasa Indonesia for Malaysian, and likewise)
Then she looked at me, “It’s Malay”
At first it was like 12V. On second thought, I couldn’t agree more. That’s quite a fact. Her source was irrelevant.

Can an American/ a Brit accept this as a sentence: “Where you wants go?” ?
(in fact I doubt they understand me).Compared to these:
“Nak pegi mana?” ; “Mana mau pegi?” ; “Mana pegi?” ; they are all pretty much accepted. Yes other languages have their colloquialisms too but we got just too much.

The ironies:
Students struggle to pass Bahasa Melayu in SPM.
We still need translators when we do ‘banci’
No one speaks the real Bahasa Melayu (baku).
Sometimes 8TV forget to put sarikata when airing drama from HK/Taiwan.
The list goes on.
Not to mention confusion on “it’s Bahasa Melayu” “no, it’s Bahasa Kebangsaan” “you two are wrong.in spirit of 1Malaysia we should name it Bahasa Malaysia” thingy.
